About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Materiel Command TACOM Life Cycle Management Command has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for Laser Warning Receiver (LWR) systems as part of the Vehicle Protection System (VPS) program. The LWR serves as a survivability sensor for ground combat vehicles and is classified as an Acquisition Category (ACAT) II program currently in production. The Army is conducting market research to inform a potential production contract for award in fiscal year 2026, utilizing a Performance Specification to solicit prospective vendors. Key technical requirements include field of view coverage, threat classification capabilities, data storage, multiple threat detection, and Modular Active Framework (MAF) compliance. Respondents must demonstrate their company's security clearance, production capabilities, and technical understanding of the specified requirements. The RFI requires unclassified responses to be submitted via email by 1700 EST on October 30, 2025.
This opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designation and no current contractors or incumbents are specifically identified in the notice. The potential procurement could exceed 4,000 kits, representing a substantial production requirement for the selected contractor. While specific award values or budget ranges are not disclosed in the RFI, the scale of up to 4,000 units suggests a significant contract value given the sophisticated nature of laser warning receiver technology. The timeline indicates a fiscal year 2026 contract award, providing a compressed schedule from the October 2025 RFI response deadline to contract execution. Participation in this RFI is voluntary, and the government is not obligated to take further action based on the responses received. Companies wishing to submit proprietary information may request access to the DoD SAFE (Secure Access File Exchange) system for secure data transmission.
