About this opportunity

The Department of the Army is soliciting information on drive-by-wire applique kits for integration onto existing ground, air, and maritime platforms in Army inventory, with responses due by July 24, 2026. This is a Request for Information (RFI) for acquisition planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation, commitment to purchase, or contract obligation.

The RFI is issued by Project Manager Autonomous Robotic Capabilities (PM ARC) under the Capability Portfolio Executive Mission Autonomy program. Responses are voluntary; no funds are available for response preparation, and no feedback or return of materials will be provided.

Industry must address engineering, prototyping, testing, and production capabilities for drive-by-wire systems on wheeled tactical vehicles, tracked combat vehicles, and watercraft. Technical inquiries cover system capabilities, host platform interfaces (CAN, UDP, and similar protocols), safety approaches and standards compliance, applicable commercial or military specifications, and past integration experience. The Army is specifically assessing vendor readiness to adapt drive-by-wire solutions to software-defined vehicle architectures, including anticipated design changes for software-defined brake-by-wire and steer-by-wire architectures incorporating AI/ML capabilities. The RFI does not mandate hardware or software redesigns or require compliance with specific standards; vendors may respond describing current state, required modifications, known constraints, or no anticipated changes.

Responses are limited to five pages (excluding certifications and title page), formatted in Times New Roman 12-point font with one-inch margins. One response per company is permitted. Submit to sandra.j.wiegand.civ@army.mil and alessandro.v.padro.civ@army.mil by 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 24, 2026. Proprietary information must be clearly marked; electronic transmissions require NIST/NIAP-approved cryptographic products or DoD Safe Exchange.
