About this opportunity

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) has issued a Special Notice requesting information from industry, academia, and other government agencies regarding potential partnering opportunities for the use of two land parcels on the GSFC campus in Greenbelt, Maryland.

The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to gauge partner interest, promote aerospace-related capabilities, and solicit innovative ideas for the utilization of the former Building 2 (B.2) site, a 3.18-acre plot of undeveloped land, and the site north of Building 27 (B.27), a 0.3-acre partially undeveloped area. NASA is seeking responses that discuss potential uses of the parcels, including long-term vision, required infrastructure modifications, timelines, and environmental considerations. The RFI responses will be used by NASA to define requirements, gauge market interest, and determine whether to issue a competitive Announcement for Proposal. Responses are due by 12:00 pm Eastern Time on May 20, 2024, and NASA will not publicly disclose proprietary information or provide any reimbursement for the cost of responses.

Notice text

The Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) advances NASA’s mission by leading scientific research, and by building, launching, and operating instruments and spacecraft. As a science center, GSFC seeks to understand the Earth and to explore the universe through a robust program of scientific research in Earth science, astrophysics, heliophysics, and planetary science.  The GSFC Master Plan calls to explore new partnerships that reinforce GSFC’s vision. Potential partnership areas have been designated along the south perimeter and in the north quadrant of the campus.

This Request for Information (RFI) concerns the land at the previous Building 2 (B.2) site and the site North of Building 27 (B.27) which may potentially include B.27N (see attached maps) for on-site/near-site opportunities for industry consideration.  Both sites are currently located inside secured NASA fencing, requiring all employees and visitors to go through NASA Procedures and Polices for badging and escorting. However, NASA is assessing the potential relocation of fence lines to allow for public access.  Power, Sewer, Communication, and Steam utilities are all located in the vicinity of the sites.

RESPONSES DUE BY 12PM (EST) ON MAY 20, 2024
