About this opportunity

The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, a Department of Defense activity under Naval Sea Systems Command, is soliciting repair services for two Hurco vertical machining centers: a 3-axis Vertical Machining Center (P/N VMX42i, S/N S443-1601077KFDCH) and a 5-axis Vertical Machining Center (P/N VMX42SRTi, S/N S444-2300420DFBAH). This is a sole-source procurement under FAR 13.106-1 authority, justified by Hurco Companies, Inc's proprietary software, diagnostic tools, and technical data that are unavailable to other third-party repair vendors. Key contract requirements include removal and installation of spindle assemblies with run-in procedures, machine centerline reset for the 5-axis unit, and core charge reimbursement contingent on return of usable cores. All prospective contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and maintain Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 Self-Assessment. The solicitation (N00164-26-Q-0100) was issued on April 16, 2026, with a firm closing date of April 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time, and offers must be submitted via email to Christina.l.staggs.civ@us.navy.mil.

This procurement contains no small business set-aside designation, though the RFQ document references a women-owned small business set-aside consideration. The anticipated sole-source contractor is Hurco Companies, Inc and Authorized Distributors, located in Indianapolis, Indiana (CAGE code 1KVM6). While no specific award value is disclosed in the solicitation documents, the contract involves firm fixed-price pricing for four line items covering spindle repair services, shipping, and core charges. Delivery is required on or before June 22, 2026, to NSWC Crane's Supply Operations Building 41 Receiving in Crane, Indiana. Payment will be administered through the Wide Area WorkFlow (WAWF) system using invoice and receiving reports, and all contractors must comply with DFARS 252.211-7003 requirements for DoD item unique identification.
