About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Vicksburg District has issued a Special Notice announcing their intent to award a sole source purchase order to Alexandria Armature Works, Inc. for specialized lock and floodgate equipment components. The procurement involves furnishing and delivering four bevel gears, two line shafts, two electric motors, and rebuilding two additional electric motors for delivery to 300 Control House Road in Colfax, Louisiana. This acquisition falls under Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures and is categorized under the Motors, Electrical product service code. The notice was posted on August 14, 2025, with responses due by August 20, 2025. The contract includes specific technical specifications for forged steel components and anti-rust coating requirements.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors of the government's intention to proceed with a sole source award rather than conducting a competitive procurement process. Key requirements include delivery of all items within three months of contract award, with specific material specifications such as ASTM A 291 Class 5 forged steel for bevel gears and AGMA Grade 2 Steel standards. Contractors located within 50 miles of the delivery address in Colfax, Louisiana will have motors delivered to them for rebuilding, while those outside this radius must handle packaging, pickup, and transportation of the motors themselves. The notice serves as advance notification to the contracting community about this upcoming sole source acquisition, allowing interested parties to understand the government's procurement strategy for this specialized lock and floodgate maintenance project. All components must meet detailed technical drawings and specifications, with anti-rust coatings equivalent to Cosmoline RP 342 applied to gears and line shafts.
