About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration is announcing intent to sole-source a Firm-Fixed Price contract for Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Codes licensing fees for Fiscal Year 2027 to the American Medical Association, with a response deadline of August 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Central Time.
VHA requires a CPT codes license to capture services provided to veteran patients and transmit workload data to the National Patient Care Database, Allocation Resource Center, Decision Support Systems, registries, third-party payers, and Congressional reporting systems. The codes are mandated by HIPAA for all electronic transactions. Because CPT codes are a registered trademark product available only through AMA, the VA intends to award on a sole-source basis under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures for Commercial Items.
The Government reserves discretion to determine whether to compete this procurement. Any interested party who believes it can meet the requirement may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation demonstrating clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government by the closing deadline. The procurement carries NAICS code 541690 with a $19 million small business size standard. Inquiries should be directed to Contract Specialist Shaun Pitts at Shaun.Pitts@va.gov. The contracting office is the Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Procurement Office – Central in Independence, Ohio.
