About this opportunity

The Treasury Common Services Center on behalf of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing issued a sources-sought notice for mail and package screening equipment on October 5, 2026, with responses due by October 9, 2026, to request inclusion in scheduled industry site visits.

BEP seeks an integrated system to detect biological hazards, chemicals, narcotics, toxic industrial chemicals, powders, liquids, and other hazards (explosives detection is not required) for approximately 20,000 annual mail submissions. The equipment must accommodate packages up to 14 inches high, 16 inches long, 8 inches wide, and 50 pounds, with a self-contained HEPA-filtered downdraft/backdraft unit, sensor and monitoring components, and audible and visual alerts designed to achieve less than 1% false-positive and false-negative rates. Scope elements under evaluation include installation, commissioning, system integration, standard operating procedure development, operator training, calibration, preventive maintenance, consumables supply, technical support, and recurring service; BEP will operate the equipment with its own staff and does not anticipate contractor support for day-to-day operations.

Potential vendors must request site visit attendance by October 9, 2026, specifying preferred date (October 15 at 10:00 a.m. EST or October 19 at 1:30 p.m. EST) and attendee names (maximum three per vendor). Real ID is required for entry at the BEP Annex Building in Washington, DC. Capability statements are limited to 12 dual-sided pages, excluding cover pages, tables of contents, technical data sheets, and product brochures. The acquisition strategy, including small-business set-aside determination, remains under evaluation pending sources-sought responses. NAICS 334517; PSC 6665.
