About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network 15, through the Kansas City VA Medical Center, is conducting market research to identify qualified sources capable of providing assisted medical transportation services for wheelchair and litter/cot patients operating on a 24/7/365 basis. Services will encompass pickup and dropoff between the Kansas City VAMC located at 4801 East Linwood Boulevard and various destinations including patient residences, contract nursing homes, and non-VA medical facilities. Prospective contractors must demonstrate established operations in non-emergent assisted medical transportation, maintain compliant vehicle fleets, employ trained staff meeting VA and OSHA requirements including TB testing and Hepatitis B vaccination, provide adequate insurance coverage (general liability, auto liability, and workers' compensation), and maintain 24/7 dispatch capability while complying with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations. The anticipated acquisition will be structured as a Firm-Fixed-Price Requirements contract with an Economic Price Adjustment provision based on the U.S. Energy Information Administration Midwest Region On-Highway Diesel Fuel Price Index, utilizing a flat base rate for one-way trips within 40 miles and an additional mileage rate for distances beyond that threshold as calculated by Bing Maps.
