About this opportunity
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Western Acquisition Division intends to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order on a brand-name basis for one Qiagen Centrifuge 4-16S (120V, 60 Hz) with one matching Plate Rotor 2 x 96, with responses due by August 6, 2026. This is a sole-source procurement under FAR 12.102(a) and 41 U.S.C. 1901, though the Government will consider requests for additional information or substantiating documentation from firms claiming they can fully meet requirements; based on responses, the Government may elect to conduct a competitive procurement instead.
Performance occurs at the NMFS Santa Cruz Laboratory in California. The centrifuge is purpose-built for high-throughput genomic DNA extraction from tissue samples using Qiagen DNeasy 96 Tissue Kits in support of genetic and genomic analyses on protected species, including endangered coho salmon and winter-run Chinook salmon. Equipment must have confirmed compatibility with the specified Qiagen rotor/centrifuge combination or demonstrate that proposed equivalents meet or exceed performance and fit requirements. The centrifuge must interface seamlessly with the laboratory's existing Qiagen robotic liquid-handling workstation and DNeasy 96-well filter plates/vacuum manifold system, with spin programs compatible with Qiagen nucleic acid purification protocols without modification.
Delivery is required within 30 days of award. Market research confirms no alternative manufacturer's centrifuge meets the technical specifications for rotor compatibility, spin speed, and integration with the existing Qiagen workflow. Requisition 143051-26-0078; contact Grace LaPierre (Contract Specialist) or Charles Kendall (Contracting Officer) at NOAA Western Acquisition Division, Seattle.
