About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Network Contracting Office 19 is conducting a market survey and intends to procure a Pulsed Field Ablation System for Salt Lake City VA Medical Center, with responses due by 12:00 pm MT on September 14, 2026.

This is a Sources Sought Notice for market research purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation, request for proposal, or commitment to award. No payment will be provided for submitted information, and respondents will not be compensated for response costs. The anticipated NAICS code is 334510 (Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing); PSC 6515 applies.

Performance location is Salt Lake City VA Medical Center. The clinical requirement is to replace existing radiofrequency ablation technology with a Pulsed Field Ablation system for the Electrophysiology Lab. The system operates through irreversible electroporation, a non-thermal mechanism that creates permanent microscopic pores in cardiac cell membranes for precise tissue ablation while minimizing injury to surrounding structures such as the esophagus and phrenic nerve. Technical specifications include a specialized catheter (balloon or multi-electrode array) inserted via the femoral vein, a generator emitting high-voltage microsecond-duration electrical pulses, and a prescriptive dosing protocol using eight applications of 2.5 seconds each. Procedures typically require less than two hours under general anesthesia or sedation with fluoroscopy and 3D mapping guidance.

Respondents must provide company name and address, point of contact details, Unique Entity ID, confirmation of item availability on the open market or FSS contract, delivery timeframe, country of origin or manufacturing location, manufacturer name, and certification of small business program eligibility. Interested companies should submit responses to lynn.lim@va.gov. The notice requests identification of equivalent domestic end products available from U.S. manufacturers if the proposed item is non-U.S. manufactured, indicating Buy American compliance consideration in future procurement.
