About this opportunity

The Department of Energy Office of Science, through UChicago Argonne, LLC (operator of Argonne National Laboratory), is seeking to procure a specialized pulsed fiber laser with highly specific technical requirements. The laser must operate at a center wavelength of 1074.6 nm vacuum wavelength, deliver 5-10 nanosecond pulses at a repetition rate of at least 10kHz, and achieve 30kW peak power at 10ns/10kHz parameters. Additional specifications include temperature and PZT-based wavelength actuators, mode-hop free tuning greater than 10GHz, transform-limited linewidth of 44MHz FWHM spectral width, and three output fiber ports with specific connector configurations for seed monitoring, pulse signal monitoring, and output. The solicitation will be evaluated using a lowest price, technically acceptable methodology, with proposals due by 5:00 PM CST on September 12, 2025. Questions must be submitted to the Contracting Officer by 5:00 PM CST on September 10, 2025, and vendors must include fully executed ANL-70 and ANL-70A forms with their proposals.

This solicitation does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors. The solicitation documents do not specify any incumbent contractors or estimated contract values, though vendors are required to provide published price lists and specify the country of manufacturing origin for the equipment. The procurement appears to be for a single specialized laser system rather than multiple units, with delivery terms specified as F.O.B. Destination and net 30-day payment terms. Performance will take place in the United States, and the contractor must comply with comprehensive federal contracting requirements including Buy American Act provisions, export control regulations, and various safety and environmental standards as outlined in Argonne's commercial terms and conditions. The technical specifications suggest this is a highly specialized research-grade instrument likely intended for scientific applications requiring precise laser parameters and multi-port fiber optic connectivity.
