About this opportunity
The Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate seeks proposals to research and develop onboard sensor subsystems combining heterogeneous devices with open system architectures. Efforts will leverage commercial and government electro-optical, hyperspectral, radiofrequency, and electronic warfare sensors onboard airborne and space-based platforms. Proposals are due no later than March 4, 2022, with award anticipated by June 3, 2022. Evaluation will consider technical and management approaches and capabilities to develop hardware, software, and data items. The estimated total value is $8 million over five fiscal years to be performed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
There is no set-aside designation. One cost-plus-fixed-fee contract will be awarded for a sixty-month period of performance developing subsystem technologies, autonomous processing techniques, open architecture designs and integration, and laboratory and flight demonstrations to characterize performance involving Secret and Confidential information. Work will be performed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base under NAICS code 541715 and PSC code R425.
Notice text
This program will leverage commercial and government developed sensors to research and develop (R&D) and test and evaluate (T&E) electro-optical (EO), hyperspectral (HSI), radiofrequency (RF), and electronic warfare (EW) subsystems. The research and development of on-board sensor subsystems combines heterogeneous devices, including (but not limited to) CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, and AI accelerators, with open system architectures. This program will include compression techniques for multiple sensor modalities including EO, RF, and EW onboard airborne and space based platforms. In order to improve the technology maturation and transition, this effort will test and evaluate using both laboratory and field testing, which will lead to device characterization and performance metrics for comparison to current capabilities.
