About this opportunity

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration seeks preventative maintenance on microscopes at its Hollings Marine Laboratory in Charleston, South Carolina, with quotations due September 10, 2026. The procurement is a Total Small Business set-aside and is structured as a Request for Quotation under FAR Subpart 12.6 for commercial items; no written solicitation will be issued.

Amendment 0001, effective September 1, 2026, reduced the microscope count from 29 to 26 units and updated the Statement of Work with specific make, model, and serial number details for each unit. The microscope portfolio includes stereomicroscopes, compound microscopes, and fluorescence-capable systems from Nikon, Olympus, Zeiss, Motic, Leica, and Velab. The scope of work requires comprehensive preventative maintenance including optical and mechanical evaluation, cleaning of all optical components, collimation to factory specifications, disassembly and lubrication of adjustment assemblies, service of illuminators and light sources, and on-site performance at 331 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston.

The contract includes a one-year base period (September 30, 2026 through September 29, 2027) with four one-year option periods, structured as firm fixed price by contract line item. The Government will award based on Best Value Trade-Off. All services must comply with Service Contract Labor Standards under Wage Determination No. 2015-4427 (effective August 22, 2026). The NAICS code is 811210, Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance. Quotations must include all costs for each line item and acknowledge compliance with the sexual harassment prevention and response policy. Amendment 0001 clarified that the scope covers preventative maintenance only, excludes corrective or emergency repairs, and consolidated all maintenance costs into CLIN 0001 and option CLINs; CLIN 0002 for miscellaneous supplies was removed.
