About this opportunity
USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service Eastern Lab anticipates procuring a full-service maintenance agreement for four Leica histopathology instruments and intends to issue a solicitation with responses due by May 15, 2026. The Government plans to award a firm fixed price purchase order with a base year plus four option years, contingent on parts availability throughout the contract period.
Work is performed on-site at 950 College Station Road, Athens, Georgia 30605. The contractor shall provide all labor, tools, and parts for preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on two Leica RM2235 manual microtomes, one Leica HistoCore Biocut manual microtome, and one Leica IP slide printer. The Government acknowledges that certain instruments, specifically the RM2235 models, may have reached full lifecycle; respondents must explicitly state whether OEM parts remain available for these models or identify alternative sources for certified parts. Services must be Section 508 compliant regarding electronic reporting or interfaces unless a waiver is requested.
Scope requires at least one scheduled preventative maintenance visit per instrument per year and unlimited on-site corrective repairs with 48-hour response time, including travel, labor, and parts. If the respondent is Leica, it must provide a formal statement confirming whether third-party authorized dealers, service providers, or resellers currently certified to perform factory-level service exist.
NAICS 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing); PSC J066 (Maint/Repair/Rebuild Of Equipment—Instruments And Laboratory Equipment). No set-aside applies.
