About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force is seeking a professional contractor to restore a significant artwork titled "Here I Am - Send Me," currently on display at the Pentagon since 1967. The restoration project aims to bring the large painting, measuring approximately 103 inches wide by 74 inches tall, to an "exhibition ready" state according to museum conservation standards. Key contract requirements include the ability to transport the artwork to and from the restoration location, remove and rehang the painting at the Pentagon, and provide comprehensive preservation and conservation services. Potential respondents must address their SAM UEI, socioeconomic status, point of contact information, and demonstrate technical capability to perform exhibition-ready restoration. The pre-solicitation notice indicates a response deadline of April 2, 2025, with interested parties encouraged to provide detailed proposals demonstrating their expertise in art restoration and handling.
The contract opportunity is set aside for small businesses, with preferences for socio-economic designations such as Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) or Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB). While specific award value was not explicitly stated, the Statement of Objectives requires contractors to carry a minimum of $10,000 in insurance coverage for the project. The desired period of performance is expected to be under one year, with the government conducting comprehensive market research to identify qualified vendors. The artwork restoration will be conducted under the oversight of the Department of the Air Force Art Program Curator, with strict security protocols requiring vendor vehicle and personnel pre-vetting at least 72 hours in advance of any Pentagon access. The project falls under the NAICS category of Independent Artists, Writers, and Performers (711510) and the Product Service Code for Photo/Map/Print/Publication (T099).
