About this opportunity
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), operating under the Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health, is soliciting a dual-channel patch-clamp amplifier system to support high-resolution electrophysiological recordings of human pluripotent stem cell-derived cell types. The solicitation specifically references a MultiClamp 700B current and patch clamp amplifier system with two 1-CV-7B headstages, though brand-name-or-equal products will be considered if they demonstrate compliance with all salient characteristics. Key requirements include two fully independent patch-clamp amplifiers within a single mainframe capable of simultaneous voltage-clamp and current-clamp operation, capacitive feedback headstages optimized for low-noise recordings, 100 kHz bandwidth, and integrated control software with comprehensive compensation capabilities. The award will be made on a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) basis, with technical acceptability evaluated on compliance with required specifications and price evaluated for reasonableness. Responses are due by April 20, 2026 at 9:00 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time and must be submitted electronically in searchable PDF format for technical quotes and Excel format for pricing to Contract Specialist Nicholas Capobianco.
This is a competitive procurement with no set-aside designation, and no incumbent contractor has been identified in the solicitation documents. The requirement calls for one unit to be delivered within 30-60 days after receipt of order, including all associated hardware, software, calibration model cells, and documentation. The procurement is conducted under FAR Parts 12 and 13 (Simplified Acquisition Procedures) and is not expected to exceed the simplified acquisition threshold, though a specific dollar amount is not disclosed. The place of performance is Bethesda, Maryland, and the project (Project #TR000244-10) commenced July 1, 2024. Prospective offerors must be registered in SAM and must submit the UEI number, TIN, business size certification, and verification of active SAM registration with their quotes.
