About this opportunity

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) is seeking a firm fixed-price quote for an OSC Motion System consisting of four three-axis motion stages with stringent technical specifications. The procurement requires highly specialized motion control equipment designed for ultra-high vacuum environments, with specific performance parameters including closed-loop operation, 5-nm resolution, and translation speeds exceeding 10 mm/second. The solicitation, identified as RFQ #BLN-364429, demands comprehensive technical compliance with detailed environmental and operational requirements, such as ultra-high vacuum compatibility to 1e-11 Torr and non-magnetic construction. Potential vendors must submit their quotes electronically by December 18, 2024, with preliminary questions due by December 13, 2024, to Brian Nielsen. Additionally, all proposals must include completed SARC and PUR-466 forms, which provide critical business and compliance certifications.

The contract opportunity is not set aside for any specific business category and will be awarded under NAICS category 334513 for Instruments and Related Products Manufacturing. The place of performance is located in Batavia, IL 60510, where Fermilab will receive four motion system units with specific dimensional and performance characteristics. Two units must have a minimum x range of +/- 10 mm and y/z range of +/- 5 mm, while the other two units require a minimum x/y range of +/- 10 mm and z range of +/- 5 mm. Although the specific award value is not explicitly stated, the procurement involves sophisticated scientific instrumentation with complex technical requirements. The contract includes provisions for ethernet communication, Python API control, and ultra-high vacuum feedthroughs, indicating a sophisticated and precise technological procurement aimed at supporting advanced scientific research infrastructure.
