Oahe Bridge Crane Pre-solicitation Notice

General
This work covers the design, fabrication, install, and commissioning for a general electrical and mechanical rehabilitation and load testing of two 250 ton overhead bridge cranes located at Oahe Powerhouse. In addition three below the hook (BTH) lifting devices will be NDT inspected and load tested as part of the contract. Each bridge crane has two trolleys with a main hoist of 125 tons and an aux hoist of 25 tons. The two bridge cranes operate in tandem for a total lift capacity of 500 tons using a 500 ton rated lifting beam. Rehabilitation work can occur either on site or crane can be removed from site. The cranes current lift capacity will remain the same.

Mechanical
All existing brakes for the main hoist, aux hoist and the bridge and trolley drive will be replaced. Second holding brakes will be added to the main and aux hoist. All main and aux hoist gearboxes shall be replaced with new along with new machinery bases. All motor couplings will be replaced. All gearboxes will have split lip seals installed. The existing drums and final open gear reduction will be reused.

Electrical
All electrical components will be removed from the cranes including main line conductors, drive motors, controls, cabinets, lights and other misc. equipment.
New motors and VFD's will be installed in addition to a new cable festoon system for the trolley. The existing bus rail for bridge travel will also be replaced to meet new code requirements. The new cab will be installed with new electrical equipment (panels and step-down transformers).

New load cells with HMI readouts will be added to the crane.

Structural
The existing trolley rail running the length of the bridge girders shall be removed and replaced along with associated hardware.
The existing open cab shall be removed and replaced with a new closed cab design
Minor extension of existing trolley frame will be required for machinery access.
Lead based paint abatement will be required for trolley.

Load Testing

Solicitation will include the load testing of each individual crane at 250 tons and load testing of the cranes in tandem at 500 tons at 100% capacity and 125% capacity. Two 250 ton lifting beams and one 500 ton lifting beam will also be load tested up to 125% capacity
