About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to sole-source a contract for Magnetom 7T MRI Magnet services to Siemens Healthineers at the San Francisco Medical Center, with a capability statement deadline of May 26, 2026, at 4:00 PM EST. The contract value is $294,103.08 covering a base period plus two one-year option periods, with FAR 52.217-8 providing for extension in one- to six-month increments up to six months total. The VA justifies sole-source award under FAR 13.106-1(b) because Siemens is the Original Equipment Manufacturer and only entity authorized to perform repairs on the Agilent-manufactured 7T MRI magnet; OEM-certified field service engineers are required to maintain eligibility for preventive maintenance service contracts and ensure patient and user safety on this proprietary system. Repairs by unauthorized vendors would void warranty and compromise system integrity. Interested firms may submit a capability statement via email to robert.clark4@va.gov, including proof of authorization to provide these services and the firm's Unique Entity ID. The government retains sole discretion to determine whether to compete the contract based on responses received.
