About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Medical Command has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to sole source a contract for Chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) kits for the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). The notice pertains to a procurement for the Department of Pathology and Area Laboratory Services (DPALS) to establish a cost-per-kit agreement for specialized medical testing reagents and consumables. The contract will cover multiple infectious disease and viral tests, including assays for Calprotectin, Cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, Herpes Simplex Virus, and several other specific medical testing requirements. The procurement will utilize the government's existing Diasorin Liaison XL Chemiluminescence Immunoassay instrumentation located at the BAMC Molecular Laboratory in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The total contract value is $5,640,183.50, covering a base year and four option years from October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2030.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to secure a sole source contract with Diasorin, Inc., which was selected as the exclusive vendor due to being the only FDA-approved manufacturer offering the LIASON MeMed BV assay fully compatible with the existing CLIA instrumentation. The procurement is being conducted under FAR 13.501 simplified procedures, with a sources sought notice previously issued in January 2025 that resulted in only Diasorin responding. Contractors should note the opportunity was posted on April 3, 2025, with a response deadline of April 19, 2025. The contract aims to improve laboratory testing efficiency by enabling more rapid processing of patient samples with increased reliability. Eligibility is implicitly limited, as the procurement is a sole source contract specifically targeting Diasorin, Inc. The contract covers comprehensive testing capabilities, including an assay capable of rapidly differentiating between bacterial and viral infections in acute medical settings, which represents a significant technological advancement in diagnostic testing.
