About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center issued a notice of intent to sole source a fixed-price purchase order to Fisher Scientific Company LLC for a Real-Time PCR System, an Automated Nucleic Acid Extractor, and a microvolume spectrophotometer by September 2, 2026. The Department of Transfusion Medicine, Infectious Diseases Section requires this equipment to support clinical research and development, optimization, and validation of diagnostic assays for hepatitis viruses and transfusion-transmitted pathogens. NIH determined that Thermo Fisher Scientific systems are uniquely qualified to meet performance, workflow integration, and cost-efficiency requirements for accurate, sensitive, and quantitative detection of nucleic acid targets in human-derived specimens, with no other commercially available system providing the same combination of capabilities. The acquisition is conducted under FAR Part 13 simplified acquisition procedures. Work is performed in Bethesda, Maryland. This is a notice of intent; no solicitation document will be issued and no quotations will be requested.
