About this opportunity

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole source firm fixed price contract to Emory University's Liang laboratory for the expression and purification of eight influenza or host proteins, the determination of six influenza virion or protein structures using cryo-EM, and polyclonal epitope mapping of forty influenza samples. The Liang laboratory is the only known provider capable of performing this specialized analysis within the CDC's schedule and budget constraints. Interested parties may respond within 15 days to this notice, but the government retains sole discretion on whether to conduct a competitive procurement.

This is not a set-aside contract. The total estimated procurement amount is not provided. The CDC contacted other vendors but they lacked the concurrent facility space and experience required to meet the CDC's needs in a timely manner. The sole source justification cites FAR 13.106-1(b) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1) as the basis for this proposed contract award to Emory University.
