About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Special Notice for the sole source procurement of a Bio-Rad CFX Opus 96 Dx instrument. The CDC's Chronic Viral Diseases branch requires this specific instrument as a replacement for their current CFX 96 Touch Real-Time PCR system, which the manufacturer, Bio-Rad, will discontinue support for in 2026.
The purpose of this Special Notice is to announce the CDC's intent to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Government Scientific Source Inc. for the required Bio-Rad CFX Opus 96 Dx instrument. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals by the deadline of July 26, 2024. However, this is not a request for competitive quotations, and the government has sole discretion in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement based on the responses received. The CDC cites the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) to support the sole source acquisition, as the CFX Opus 96 Dx is the only compatible replacement for the Novaplex HPV 28 assay used in the CDC's HPV surveillance and vaccine impact studies.
