About this opportunity
CDC Office of Acquisition Services intends to sole-source an Agilent 5800 ICP-OES (inductively coupled plasma – optical emission spectrometer) and related equipment and services to Agilent Technologies, LLC, with a capability-statement deadline of August 26, 2026. The procurement will be conducted as a simplified acquisition under FAR Part 12 for commercial products and supplies.
The equipment and services include the Agilent 5800 ICP-OES instrument, autosampler rack, recirculating chiller, calibration blanks and solution, tubing, and on-site training and installation. The instrument features a vertical torch with quick-change mount, fixed injector, dual viewing capability, a simultaneous polychromator with no moving parts, and a simultaneous sealed charge-coupled device (CCD) detector with full wavelength coverage and maintenance-free operation. CDC states Agilent Technologies is the only vendor able to provide this specific combination of features and specifications.
The procurement supports NIOSH's Health Effects Laboratory Division, Chemical and Biological Monitoring Branch mission of conducting applied research and establishing methods for identification and assessment of occupational exposures using biomonitoring, industrial hygiene direct reading and laboratory-based analytical methods, and aerosol science.
Although this is a sole-source intent, interested parties believing they possess capabilities to meet the requirement may submit a capability statement to contract specialist Felipe Cardenas at tpp5@cdc.gov by August 26, 2026. All responses received within 15 days of issuance will be reviewed, and the Government retains sole discretion to determine whether to compete the contract. NAICS code 334516 applies; PSC code 6630 (Chemical Analysis Instruments).
