About this opportunity
The Indian Health Service (IHS), under the Department of Health and Human Services, published a Notice of Intent to Award on April 1, 2026, regarding multiple Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs) for medical supplies. The procurement is being conducted by the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, Gallup Service Unit in Gallup, New Mexico, for the Gallup Indian Medical Center's Medical Supply Department. The government intends to establish multiple-award BPAs with Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems, Inc. and KCI, Inc. for an array of surgical and medical supplies including sutures, mesh, staplers, shears, canister suction equipment, and various other medical devices. This Notice of Intent is not a request for quotations, and no formal solicitation will be issued. The procurement falls under NAICS code 339113 (Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing) with a small business size standard of 800 employees.
Interested contractors who believe they can fulfill the government's requirements are encouraged to submit capability statements, price lists, and catalogs to the designated point of contact via email no later than April 16, 2026. The anticipated contract period consists of a one-year base period from the award date followed by four option periods, with all orders to be placed on an as-needed basis. There are no specific set-asides or eligibility restrictions limiting participation, though firms must demonstrate capability to supply the required medical products. The government has determined that the multiple BPAs already established with Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems, Inc. and KCI, Inc. constitute maximum practicable competition; however, should the government's needs change, additional capable vendors may be contacted to establish BPAs in the future. No further awards are anticipated unless requirements for the Medical Supply Department increase.
