About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Northern Indiana Health Care System (VANIHCS) is seeking a qualified contractor to provide comprehensive hazardous waste disposal services across three medical facilities in Indiana. The contract, which will cover a base year with four potential one-year option periods, requires the selected vendor to handle various waste types including hazardous, non-hazardous chemical, specialty, dual, universal, and used oil waste, as well as emergency spill response and lab pack services. Responses to this Sources Sought Notice are due by June 4, 2025, at 5:00 PM EST, with submissions limited to 10 pages and sent via email to Kaitlin.Nachtrab@va.gov. Contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database and provide detailed information about their company, including past performance, federal supply schedule contracts, and business size. The applicable NAICS code is 562211 with a size standard of $47 Million, and the procurement will focus on gathering market research to inform future solicitation strategies.
The pre-solicitation notice is not specifically set aside for any particular small business designation, though it shows preference for Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) and Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSB). While no specific award value is mentioned, the draft quantities spreadsheet suggests annual waste disposal volumes ranging from 1 to 6,250 pounds/units across multiple waste categories. The contract will cover waste disposal services at three VA medical centers: Marion Medical Center, Fort Wayne Medical Center, and Jackie Walorski Clinic in Mishawaka, Indiana. Contractors are required to provide three past contract references demonstrating similar services and will need to show capability to handle complex waste management requirements, including maintaining electronic waste tracking systems and providing comprehensive documentation. Importantly, the government emphasizes that this is a market research notice and does not guarantee future solicitation, with all submitted information being voluntary and uncompensated.
