About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is conducting market research to identify potential sources for a Nitrogen Generation system intended for the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). This pre-solicitation notice is not a formal solicitation but rather a sources sought synopsis to evaluate vendor capabilities and experience in manufacturing nitrogen generation equipment. The system must deliver 400 standard cubic feet per hour (scfh) of nitrogen at 99.5% purity with a discharge pressure of 125 ±25 psig, utilizing membrane-type generator technology with integrated flow and purity controls, oxygen analysis capability, and automatic on/off functionality. Key technical requirements include physical dimensions not exceeding 10 feet in height by 82 inches in width by 36 inches in depth, a maximum weight of 1,000 pounds, and compatibility with existing facility compressed air capabilities. Interested firms must submit capability statements electronically to Danara Barlow (danara.barlow@us.af.mil) and Jessica Stamper (jessica.stamper.2@us.af.mil) by December 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM EST, with submissions limited to a single email not exceeding five megabytes and containing the subject line "NITROGEN GENERATOR."

This procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, meaning only small businesses are eligible to respond. The government has not disclosed an award value or budget range for this opportunity. The contract requires delivery within 10 weeks after award to AFIT/ENY at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, and the equipment must be manufactured in a qualifying country source in accordance with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) regulations. The successful contractor will be responsible for providing comprehensive documentation including system design specifications, operation manuals, and maintenance procedures, along with a one-year warranty covering on-site repairs. Payment will be processed through the Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) system following final inspection and acceptance, and specific delivery procedures for commercial vehicles entering the base must be adhered to during equipment delivery.
