The procurement is classified as a simplified acquisition under NAICS 334516 with no set-aside restrictions.
Place of performance is Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. The NextSeq 1000 system will support the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System DNA Operations (AFMES-DNA OPS) mission, replacing end-of-life NextSeq 550 systems and addressing increased sample workload to meet the National Defense Authorization Act 2010 mandate for 200 annual identifications of missing service members from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Cold War.
The system must integrate cluster generation and sequencing in a single workflow using XLEAP Sequencing by Synthesis chemistry, deliver up to 120 Gb output per run with up to 400 million single reads, support flexible read lengths (2x50 bp, 2x100 bp, 2x150 bp, 2x300 bp), achieve 90% of bases above Q30, and complete runs in 8 to 42 hours. The internal control computer requires a 2U Microserver with Linux operating system, 288 GB RAM, and 3.8 TB SSD storage. Physical dimensions must not exceed 55 cm W x 65 cm D x 60 cm H with gross weight not exceeding 141 kg. The system must provide a direct upgrade path to NextSeq 2000 and backward compatibility with existing validated forensic assays.
The awardee shall deliver the complete system with one-year manufacturer warranty, three-year Silver Support Plan, XLEAP-SBS reagents and consumables, installation and IQ/OQ certification, operator training, and LIMS integration support.
