About this opportunity

The Department of the Interior, United States Geological Survey, Eastern Ecological Science Center intends to award a non-competitive purchase order to Illumina for one Illumina MiSeq i100 Plus System, with a response deadline of June 25, 2026. This is a sole-source acquisition under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) based on unique proprietary control; Illumina's software, hardware, consumables, and sequencing chemistry are not cross-compatible with competing manufacturers' instruments.

The Center requires the MiSeq i100 Plus to support ongoing ecological genomics, fisheries biology, and environmental DNA research in priority regions including the Chesapeake Bay. The system includes onboard touchscreen interface, integrated computing, DRAGEN secondary analysis pipelines, and 12-month warranty covering parts and labor. The acquisition will be firm fixed-price with a total investment of $119,473.68 and delivery within 60 days of order receipt.

The Center has used Illumina methodologies for multiple ongoing projects and requires this specific system to maintain continuity of publishable data and compatibility with existing Illumina-formatted genomic libraries and previously generated USGS sequencing data. Prior market research and previous synopses for similar Illumina purchases yielded no responses from competing vendors. Although this notice is for informational purposes and not a request for competitive proposals, interested parties may submit capability statements demonstrating their ability to meet the requirement to Rafael_anderson@ios.doi.gov. The acquisition is categorized under NAICS 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and PSC 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies), with a size standard of 1,000 employees.
