About this opportunity
Naval Sea Systems Command seeks procurement of one Training Device (TD) of the Radiological Detection System (RDS) Neutron Probe and corresponding sources, with quotes due September 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM EDT. The procurement is set aside for total small business.
Place of performance and delivery is Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, Building 157, Room 103A, 9500 MacArthur Boulevard, West Bethesda, Maryland. The RDS component to be simulated is the DT-725/PD (NSN 6665-01-671-4376) Neutron Probe, a survey meter for detecting fast and thermal neutrons. The contractor may develop a dedicated RDS Base Unit TD compatible with the Neutron Probe TD or design the Neutron Probe TD to be compatible with a government-furnished RDS Base Unit (IM-281/PD, NSN 6665-01-671-4539). The device must be handheld, display simulated radiation responses with configurable alarms, include an instructor control system enabling wireless monitoring and control of multiple base units and probes, incorporate training sources detectable only by corresponding devices, and feature data viewing, health monitoring, settings configuration, and probe menu functions. Physical specifications mandate rigid shock-resistant construction, 8-hour battery capability, compliance with MIL-STD-464D electromagnetic standards and ANSI N42.17AC-2022 RF and magnetic field standards, functionality after 1-meter drops, and operation at up to 85% humidity. Period of performance is fifteen months after contract award, with delivery required by May 30, 2027. The Government anticipates awarding one firm-fixed-price purchase order. Contractor responsibilities include providing test/inspection reports (CDRL A001) and COTS manuals with supplemental data (CDRL A002). NAICS code is 334519, PSC code 6930. Responses must include company letterhead, CAGE code, pricing, business size designation, and capabilities statement. Submit to christopher.c.rolince.civ@us.navy.mil.
