About this opportunity
The National Park Service is procuring a brand name only Morbark BVR13 Towable Woodchipper through a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items under FAR Subpart 12.6. The acquisition is specifically designated as brand name only to maintain equipment compatibility with the agency's existing inventory, as the National Mall and Memorial Parks currently operates the same make and model, which minimizes training requirements and ensures parts compatibility. The woodchipper must meet specific technical requirements including a diesel-powered engine up to 133 HP, maximum weight of 10,000 pounds, dimensions not exceeding 15'11" in length and 7'10" in width, and an infeed opening of 30" x 60". This procurement replaces a previous solicitation and seeks to award a firm fixed-price contract for equipment needed to replace a stolen unit that supports the park's in-house arborist team. Amendment 0001 extended the quotation submission deadline to September 23, 2025 at 12:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time.
This solicitation does not utilize any set-aside designation and is open to full and open competition, though it is limited to the specific Morbark brand requirement. No incumbent contractors are identified in the documentation, and no specific contract values or budget ranges are disclosed in the available materials. The procurement calls for delivery of a single woodchipper unit within 180 days of contract award, with a performance period running from September 22, 2025 through February 28, 2026. The equipment will be delivered to 1000 Ohio Drive SW, Washington DC, and will support vegetation management operations across the National Mall and Memorial Parks, where the arborist team maintains over 20,000 trees in the Washington DC area. The contract includes requirements for safety training/demonstration and a standard warranty of 2 years or 3,000 hours on original components.
