About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Quantum Sensors Division intends to procure five units of low-noise microwave amplifiers operating in the 4–8 GHz bandwidth with 1.5K noise temperature, with capability statements due by June 29, 2026. NIST is conducting market research to determine acquisition methodology and will solicit as a small business set-aside if at least two qualified small businesses meeting specifications are identified.
The amplifiers must be model LNF-LNC4_8F_LG or equivalent, with noise figure of 0.022 dB typical, 23 dB gain, and high IP3 saturation point. Equipment must be compatible with existing cryostat wiring, amplifier mounting hardware, and low-noise biasing electronics for use in quantum sensors systems utilizing Microwave SQUID readout technology. Deliverables include female SMA RF connectors, 9-pin female Nano-D DC connectors, and electronic manuals. DC power requirements are Vd=0.70V and Id=15mA with one gate and one drain supply.
Delivery location is NIST at 325 Broadway, MS 687.08, Boulder, Colorado 80305 within eight weeks after receipt of order. A 180-day warranty covering labor and parts is required. NIST will conduct inspection and acceptance testing within 14 days for basic functionality; noise temperature performance evaluation extends beyond this period. No installation, training, maintenance, or travel services are required.
The requirement carries NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. Vendors must identify the country of product manufacture. Capability statements should not exceed four pages and must be submitted electronically to Contract Specialist Matthew M. Delgado at matthew.delgado@nist.gov by June 29, 2026.
