About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 7 is soliciting offers for the supply and installation of one new Ames 8-inch backflow device (Model 2000 SS) to replace existing equipment in Building 100 at a VA Medical Center. The solicitation (RFQ 36C24726Q0083) requires contractors to remove the existing backflow, install the new unit with specific technical specifications including a working pressure of 175 psi and hydrostatic pressure of 350 psi, conduct system testing, and provide a comprehensive report. The contract will be evaluated using a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) methodology, and offers are due by October 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM Central Daylight Time. This is a critical infrastructure maintenance project with a performance period not to exceed four weeks from contract award.
This solicitation is designated as a total Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) set-aside, restricting competition to qualified SDVOSB contractors. The procurement falls under NAICS code 332911 (Industrial Valve Manufacturing) and PSC code N048 (Installation of Equipment – Valves). No specific award value or budget range is disclosed in the solicitation documents. The contract is structured on a Firm-Fixed-Price basis, indicating a predetermined cost for the entire scope of work. The work is to be performed at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center location identified in the contracting office documentation, with the primary point of contact being Contracting Officer Terri Hudson at terri.hudson@va.gov.

Question:
The PWS states "•Supply and install one (1) new Ames 8-inch backflow: Model 2000 SE"
The SE model is obsolete and has been replaced by the SS model. I have attached the specsheet for that model to this email.
Will VA accept a 2000SS in place of a 2000SE?
Answer:
Yes the SS is fine
