About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Central Alabama Veterans Health Care facility issued a pre-solicitation notice for the relocation of an existing fire pump, requiring the pump to be moved approximately 77 feet from its current parking lot location to a new position adjacent to Building 10. The procurement falls under NAICS code 238990 (All Other Specialty Trade Contractors) and PSC code N012 (Installation of Equipment - Fire Control Equipment), with interested contractors required to complete and submit a Request for Quote (RFQ) via email to Contracting Officer Marcus Watts. Site visits were scheduled for Monday through Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, coordinated through Jhasmine Ellis at (803)201-7243, and all questions needed to be submitted at least 24 hours prior to the bid closing. The original solicitation was scheduled for release on July 9, 2025, with responses due by July 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM Eastern Time. However, the solicitation has been canceled in its entirety according to the most recent modification notice.

This procurement opportunity was designated as a set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBC), limiting competition to qualified firms within that socioeconomic category. The project involves relocating fire control equipment over a relatively short distance of 77 feet within the VA facility grounds, suggesting a specialized but limited scope of work. No incumbent contractors or previous award values were mentioned in the available documentation, and no specific budget range was disclosed for this fire pump relocation project. The timeline for completion of the actual relocation work was not specified in the pre-solicitation materials, though the procurement process itself was compressed with only a seven-day window from solicitation release to response deadline before the cancellation occurred.
