About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command at Moody AFB is conducting market research for a Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio system to replace or operate as the AN/PRC152A. The agency seeks a compact, lightweight, and rugged two-channel handheld radio that provides simultaneous narrowband and wideband communications capability for warfighters operating in challenging environments including caves, ships, and urban settings. The radio must support tactical command and control communications with Type-1 protected encryption, operate across multiple frequency ranges (narrowband 30-512 MHz, wideband across L-UHF, U-UHF, and L/S bands), and feature the WREN-TSM waveform from TrellisWare Technologies for Mobile Ad-hoc Network operations. Network throughput must reach up to 16 Mbps for high-speed wireless IP networking, with transmit power up to 5 watts narrowband (10 watts SATCOM) and 2 watts wideband. The pre-solicitation response deadline is August 27, 2025, just five days after the posting date of August 22, 2025. Environmental specifications require operation from -30 to +55°C with 2M/20M immersion capability.

This pre-solicitation notice does not include any set-aside designations and is classified under NAICS code 334220 for Radio and Television Broadcasting and Wireless Communications Equipment Manufacturing. The notice explicitly states this is for market research purposes only with no guaranteed award, and no incumbent contractors or potential award values are mentioned in the documentation. The opportunity falls under PSC category 5985 for Antennas, Waveguides, and Related Equipment, indicating the technical nature of the communications equipment being researched. No specific quantities of radios are mentioned, though the focus on individual handheld units suggests this could involve procurement of multiple devices for military personnel. The tight five-day response window suggests this is an initial market assessment to gauge industry capabilities and potential sources before moving to a formal solicitation process.
