About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 4 is seeking to procure molecular testing reagents through a 5-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for their VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. The procurement requires specific Qiagen brand molecular testing reagents including THERASCREEN EGFR RGQ PCR Kit, THERASCREEN KRAS RGQ PCR Kit, BRAF RGQ PCR Kit, and IDH 1/2 RGQ PCR Kit for detecting mutations in biomarkers associated with specific types of cancer in their molecular anatomic pathology department. These reagents must be Qiagen Brand Name to ensure compatibility with the Rotor-Gene Q MDx analyzers and their proprietary software currently installed at the facility. The contractor must provide all necessary resources including reagents, quality control materials, linearity and validation reagents to accomplish the deliverables. Quotes must be submitted electronically by 4:00 PM EDT on September 22, 2025, to Christa Stine at christa.stine@va.gov, with evaluation focusing on past performance as evidenced by the Past Performance Questionnaire requirement.
The contract is designated as a small business set-aside under NAICS code 339112 (Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing) with a 1000-employee size standard. Based on the sole source justification documentation, Qiagen appears to be the only vendor capable of providing compatible reagents for the facility's existing equipment, as market research yielded zero alternative responses. The estimated 5-year quantities include 40 EGFR kits, 45 KRAS kits, 50 BRAF kits, and 10 IDH 1/2 kits, though specific contract values are not disclosed in the available documentation. The performance period will run from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2030, with 12-month ordering periods and unilateral task orders issued by the government contingent upon VA funding availability. All services and deliveries will be performed at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System in Pittsburgh, PA 15240, supporting their molecular anatomic pathology operations for cancer biomarker testing.
