The specification covers two jacket types—Type I for staff NCOs and Type II for officers—in polyester/wool tropical black material, available in sizes 0X through 18 in three lengths (short, regular, long). Construction includes semi-fitted designs with two-panel fronts and three-panel backs, fully lined construction, notched lapels, rolled collars with scarlet top collar material, and long two-piece sleeves. Type II jackets include buttoned shoulder straps with oak leaf and acorn ornamentation on the collar; Type I includes pointed cuffs. The specification mandates adherence to Government-furnished patterns, specific stitching types and seam specifications per ASTM D6193, and inspection requirements including first article inspection when specified and conformance inspection with visual and dimensional examinations.
