About this opportunity
The Air Force Materiel Command Test Center issued a sole-source Notice of Intent on October 6, 2026, for immediate repair of a Mazak MTV 655/80N Vertical Machining Center at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, with response due by October 9, 2026. The acquisition will be conducted under simplified acquisition procedures (FAR Part 12) and awarded as a firm-fixed-price purchase order to Magnum Precision Machines, the sole authorized local distributor and service provider for Mazak Corporation.
The 846th Test Squadron requires replacement of a damaged spindle cartridge and gearbox rebuild to Original Equipment Manufacturer specifications, full system calibration and operational testing, and a minimum one-year warranty covering parts, labor, travel, and shipping. All on-site work must be completed within 90 days after receipt of order at 1521 Test Track Road, Building 1173, Holloman AFB, during normal government working hours (Monday–Friday, 0700–1600 Mountain Time), excluding Federal holidays unless approved. The contractor is responsible for all equipment, tools, and materials; government will not provide these.
The sole-source justification cites Magnum Precision Machines' unique positioning to provide certified technical labor and genuine OEM parts, with unauthorized vendors unable to secure required OEM warranty or acceptable risk mitigation for this mission-critical machine. The procurement is classified under NAICS 811310 and PSC J034 with estimated value below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $350,000.
Other certified and authorized Mazak service providers may submit capability statements to Contracting Officer Mikayla Roland (mikayla.roland@us.af.mil) or Contract Specialist Lindsay Jones (lindsay.jones.5@us.af.mil) for consideration regarding competitive procurement decisions. The Government reserves discretionary authority regarding competitive procurement determinations.
