About this file

This is a Notice of Intent for a sole-source acquisition of commercial repair services under simplified acquisition procedures (FAR Part 12).

The 846th Test Squadron at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico seeks immediate repair of a Mazak MTV 655/80N Vertical Machining Center (Serial Number 198141). The Government intends to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order to Magnum Precision Machines, the sole authorized local distributor and service provider for Mazak Corporation. The required commercial services include replacing the damaged spindle cartridge, rebuilding the machine's gearbox to Original Equipment Manufacturer specifications, performing full system calibration and operational testing, and providing a minimum one-year warranty covering all parts, labor, travel, and shipping. The contractor must complete all on-site repairs and successful operational checks within 90 days After Receipt of Order. The procurement is classified under NAICS Code 811310 (Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Repair and Maintenance) with a $12.5 million size standard, and Product Service Code J034 (Maint/Repair/Rebuild of Equipment—Metalworking Machinery). The estimated contract value is below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $350,000.

The sole-source justification emphasizes that Magnum Precision Machines is uniquely positioned to provide certified technical labor and genuine OEM parts required for the repair, and that unauthorized third-party vendors cannot secure the required OEM warranty or provide acceptable risk mitigation for this mission-critical machine representing a single point of failure for national security testing programs. Other certified and authorized Mazak service providers may submit capability statements via email to Contracting Officer Mikayla Roland (mikayla.roland@us.af.mil) or Contract Specialist Lindsay Jones (lindsay.jones.5@us.af.mil) for consideration regarding competitive procurement decisions. No formal solicitation will be issued, and the Government reserves discretionary authority regarding competitive procurement determinations.
