Statement of Work

Mazak 655 Spindle & Gearbox Repair

846th Test Squadron

4 June 2026

1.0 PURPOSE

The 704th Test Group’s (704 TG) mission is to provide unique test and evaluation capabilities relevant to tomorrow’s warfighter. The 846th Test Squadron (846 TS) utilizes rocket-powered sled trains at the Holloman High Speed Test Track (HHSTT) to simulate flight-like environments.

To support this mission, the 846 TS relies on a Mazak MTV 655/80N Vertical Machining Center

(Serial Number 198141) to machine complex rocket sleds, test track hardware, and test articles.

Currently, the machine’s main milling spindle and gearbox assembly are inoperative due to a damaged PLG sensor, rendering the machine incapable of engaging any spindle RPM. This machine is mission-critical; its unavailability directly impacts the schedule of priority national security test programs. The purpose of this SOW is to procure the necessary parts and services to repair the machine and return it to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) factory specifications to prevent further mission delays.

2.0 SCOPE

The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and quality control necessary to replace the spindle and rebuild the gearbox on the Mazak MTV 655/80N

Vertical Machining Center (SN: 198141). Specifically, the contractor shall:

• Provide and install all necessary OEM parts to rebuild the gearbox and replace the spindle cartridge (6K RPM with gear), consistent with the requirements outlined in

Magnum Precision Machines Quote/Order HOL5100.

• Remove the damaged spindle and rebuild the gearbox to OEM standard specifications.

• Install the rebuilt spindle.

• Calibrate home positions and the tool measurement system.

• Perform a comprehensive operational test of the spindle and gearbox to guarantee full system functionality.

• Provide a minimum one (1) year warranty on the provided parts and labor.

3.0 PLACE OF PERFORMANCE & HOURS OF OPERATION

All on-site work shall be performed at the 846 TS facility: 1521 Test Track Road, Building 1173, Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico 88310. Work shall be conducted during normal government working hours, Monday through Friday, 0700 to 1600 (Mountain Time), excluding

Federal holidays, unless otherwise coordinated and approved by the Government Point of

Contact (POC).

4.0 MILESTONES & DELIVERABLES

The contractor is contractually obligated to complete the installation of the spindle, the repair of the gearbox, and the successful acceptance of the operational check no later than 90 days After

Receipt of Order (ARO).

Upon completion of the repair, the contractor shall demonstrate full system functionality to the

Government POC (T. Kanios) for final acceptance and sign-off.

5.0 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED PROPERTY (GFP)

The Government will not provide tools, lifting equipment, or materials for this repair. The contractor is responsible for bringing all necessary equipment to safely remove the damaged spindle and install the new components. The Government will provide access to the machine and available power utilities.

6.0 SECURITY REQUIREMENTS
