About this opportunity

The USDA Forest Service is seeking a contractor to perform masonry foundation repairs at two historic cabins in the Custer Gallatin National Forest, Montana. The work includes rebuilding front steps, repairing stone facades, repointing mortar joints, and addressing foundation failures at both the Fourmile Cabin (located 42 miles south of Big Timber) and the Ibex Cabin (located 36 miles north of Livingston). Contractors must demonstrate experience in historic masonry techniques and follow National Park Service standards for historic preservation, as both cabins are historic structures requiring specialized restoration methods. The government will evaluate quotes using a best value approach considering four factors: past performance, experience with historic masonry techniques, technical approach, and price. Questions must be submitted by September 15, 2025, to Christopher Malley at christopher.malley@usda.gov, with quote packages due electronically by September 25, 2025, at 5:00 PM Mountain Time.

This procurement is set aside for small businesses under the Total Small Business designation, with no incumbent contractors identified in the solicitation materials. The estimated contract value ranges between $25,000 and $100,000, with a performance period running from September 23, 2025, to November 24, 2025, providing contractors with approximately 60 calendar days to complete the work. The project is funded through the FY25 Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) program and requires compliance with Section 106 historic preservation requirements. Work will be performed at remote cabin locations in Montana's Custer Gallatin National Forest, requiring contractors to address logistical challenges associated with accessing these remote sites. The scope includes specific line items for mobilization, front step repairs, foundation repairs, and stair rebuilding at both cabin locations, with contractors required to price all components of the work.
