About this opportunity

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is conducting a market survey for crane support services with an operator at the FRG Airport Traffic Control Tower in Farmingdale, NY. The primary objective is to gather information about potential vendors capable of providing specialized crane services for a cab glass replacement project scheduled for June 18-29, 2025. Interested vendors must submit a capability statement by May 15, 2025, at 12:00 PM CDT, detailing their service types, previous contract performances, and years in business. The FAA requires vendors to provide comprehensive documentation, including SBA 8(a) certification letters if applicable, and submit responses via email to Bryon Nolan with the Market Survey Identifier 6973GH-25-FRG. The agency is specifically seeking vendors who can operate a mobile crane capable of lifting 4,000-pound glass units to approximately 105 feet above ground level, with a crane tip height not exceeding 149 feet.

The market survey is currently without a specific set-aside designation, though the FAA is evaluating whether to create a small business set-aside based on the responses received. The project encompasses 104 total hours of crane service across weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with specific requirements including a licensed crane operator, CAD-generated site drawings, and a comprehensive lift plan to be submitted within 5 days of contract award. Vendors must provide documentation of operator certifications and comply with airport regulations, and will be responsible for crane mobilization, fuel, permits, and any damages during setup and takedown. The procurement will fall under NAICS category 238990 (All Other Specialty Trade Contractors) and PSC category W035 (Lease or Rental of Equipment), with the FAA's Team Lead Technician responsible for final work inspection and approval. This market survey represents a preliminary step in determining competitive landscape and potential procurement strategies for the crane rental services.
