About this opportunity
The Federal Aviation Administration's Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) is conducting market research for pharmaceutical and biomedical hazardous waste disposal services at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The agency seeks to identify potential sources for a five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract requiring contractors to provide all personnel, materials, tools, and equipment necessary for the removal, transportation, and disposal of medical waste including isolation waste, infectious agents, human blood and body fluids, pathological waste, contaminated sharps, and miscellaneous laboratory waste. All services must comply with current local, state, and federal regulations, with comprehensive documentation, tracking, and reporting requirements. The contract will utilize "Mail Back/On Call" service delivery methods, with pickups typically coordinated during business hours through the government's Contracting Officer's Representative. Interested parties must submit their responses to this Sources Sought/Request for Information by October 13, 2025, and telephone inquiries will not be accepted.
Currently, no set-aside designation has been determined, though the agency indicates that all small business set-aside categories will be considered based on market research responses, and the requirement may be set aside for small business in full or in part or proceed through full and open competition. No incumbent contractor or current service provider is identified in the pre-solicitation notice. The annual waste disposal requirements are relatively modest, consisting of approximately 4-12 pharmaceutical waste boxes of 3.4 gallons each and 15-20 "Red Box" medical waste bins per month for the CAMI Occupational Health Clinic and Bioaeronautical Sciences Research Laboratory. The contract structure anticipates a single award to a qualified vendor with demonstrated capability and capacity to handle pharmaceutical and biomedical hazardous waste disposal services. No specific budget range or estimated contract value is provided in the market survey documentation.
