About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), intends to solicit renewal of a Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (HPLC-MS) system maintenance and service agreement, with responses due by July 25, 2026. The procurement is not set-aside. The Government has signaled non-competitive intent toward Agilent Technologies Inc. but reserves discretion to conduct competitive procurement based on received responses.

The HPLC-MS system supports the Natural Products Chemistry Section of the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry, which conducts research on discovery and development of novel antibiotics and antiviral compounds. The analytical system provides critical data for structural elucidation, molecular composition determination, rapid identification of known compounds, and compound characterization—all essential to ongoing research activities and peer-reviewed publications.

The procurement is classified under NAICS 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) and PSC J066 (Maint/Repair/Rebuild Of Equipment – Instruments And Laboratory Equipment). The contract value does not exceed the simplified acquisition threshold of $250,000 and is conducted under FAR Part 13. Place of performance is NIDDK facilities.

Interested parties must submit technical proposal, cost-price proposal, period of performance, UEI, TIN, business size certification, and active SAM registration to Vishnuvajjala Hanumanth Rao (vishnuh@mail.nih.gov) by 9:00 AM Eastern time, referencing solicitation number 75N98026Q00815.

Background Information: The mission of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) is to conduct and support medical research and research training and to disseminate science-based information on diabetes and other endocrine and metabolic diseases; digestive diseases, nutritional disorders, and obesity; and kidney, urologic, and hematologic diseases, to improve people’s health and quality of life.

The Natural Products Chemistry Section of the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry (LBC) conducts research focused on the discovery and development of novel antibiotics and antiviral compounds. Many of these molecules have the potential to become therapeutic agents that could significantly improve human health and support the mission of NIDDK. The laboratory routinely relies on an existing High-Performance Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (HPLC-MS) system to identify, characterize, and confirm the structures of synthetic and natural compounds. The HPLC-MS system provides critical data for structural elucidation, molecular composition determination, rapid identification of known compounds, and compound characterization. Continued operation of this analytical system is essential to support ongoing research activities and the generation of data required for publication in peer-reviewed chemistry journals.
