About this opportunity

The National Park Service, under the Department of the Interior, issued this Sources Sought Notice on February 6, 2026, to conduct market research for landfill tipping fee services at Yosemite National Park in California. This is explicitly a market research notice only and does not constitute a request for quotation or a commitment to award a contract. The NPS is seeking information from businesses capable of providing landfill disposal services to the park and to determine the appropriate acquisition strategy for a future solicitation. The work involves identifying a permitted landfill facility that can accept municipal waste from the park. The notice applies to the solid waste landfill industry under NAICS code 562212, with a small business size standard of $47.0 million in annual receipts.

The primary objective of this notice is to identify potential contractors who can operate or provide access to a permitted landfill facility located no more than 40 miles from El Portal, California, capable of accepting approximately 1,200 tons of solid waste annually plus 300 tons of organic waste, available seven days a week year-round. Interested firms must submit responses by February 23, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time via email, providing company information, small business certification status, capability statements with at least two similar project references from the past three years, the landfill site address, and performance metrics. The contractor must hold a solid waste facility permit issued by the Local Enforcement Agency with CalRecycle concurrence and utilize state-certified scales for weighing waste. The anticipated contract award is projected for July 15, 2026, with options to extend yearly for up to four years, and the government anticipates 15 to 60 trips monthly to the facility. No compensation will be provided for submitted responses, and this notice does not obligate the government to issue a formal solicitation.
