Wall Penetration information
During the Site Survey, questions regarding Wall Penetrations were asked. After reviewing the planned pathway, here are identified penetrations.
Hallway to Server Room sheetrock and then above ceiling of Server Room
Partway between Communications Room and Server Room, there is a cinder block wall with expanded metal at top of blocks. Because this is a juncture between two building and one s ceiling line is 6-feet higher than the other, if the number of cables exceed current conduit space, it will require a penetration through the cinder block wall at a downward 60-degree angle.
The existing conduit is a 4-inch internal pipe approximately half-full of CAT 6 cable. See photo of conduit below (Photos for Penetration #2).
Partway between Communications Room and prior to the cinder block wall mentioned above, there are two-each 2- inch conduits with no cables and additional conduits with limited space for additional cables. In the event additional penetrations are required, this should a sheetrock wall.

1. BACKGROUND
The VA Cooperative Studies Program Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center was recently designated a VA Biorepository and designated as the secondary biorepository for the Million Veteran Program. This new function located in the section of the facility known as the Annex has multiple requirements for equipment to provide data to computer systems to maintain sample inventory, manage complex laboratory equipment operations, and allow new work spaces to access networked resources. The facility s current computer network does not have service in the areas housing the Biorepository functions, so it needs to be expanded.
2. SCOPE
The vendor will provide all materials and labor to install network cabling between the Server Room, Annex Communications Room, and new network drops to be added in workspaces. The below table lists Start/End locations, number of cables, and approximate distance between locations.

The facility currently uses Leviton products for its network infrastructure and vendor must either use identical materials or newer design if current materials are no longer produced. This is for both appearance and user familiarity purposes.
Cables must be CAT 6 Plenum and will be terminated in workspaces in dual-port enclosures.
Cables will be terminated in Patch Panels in both the Server Room and Communications Room
Vendor must use supports such as J-hooks to support cables where appropriate.
3. SPECIFIC TASKS
3.1 Produce final design for user review and approval prior to ordering materials.
3.2 Provide materials and labor to complete installation project.
