About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service's Superior National Forest, LaCroix Ranger District, is seeking contractors to modify, insulate, and heat their district fire engine garage through a construction project. The current garage is unheated with an overhead door too small to safely accommodate the fire engine, requiring the engine to be relocated during cold weather to prevent freezing damage. The project involves comprehensive modifications including installing a new 14-foot wide insulated overhead door, constructing partition walls, adding insulation and heating systems, replacing siding, and relocating electrical components to create a year-round heated storage and maintenance facility. The contract will be awarded to the lowest-priced, responsible offeror who meets all solicitation requirements and maintains an active SAM.gov registration. Questions must be submitted by September 19, 2025, with proposals due by September 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM local time.
This solicitation is set aside for small businesses and falls under the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts wage requirements, with no incumbent contractor identified in the documentation. The contract value is estimated between $50,000 and $100,000, with work to be performed at the LaCroix Ranger District facility in Cook, Minnesota 55723. Contractors must begin work within 10 calendar days of receiving notice to proceed and complete the entire project within 21 calendar days, with a final delivery date of November 28, 2025, though work must be finished before March 31, 2026. The project scope covers a 28-foot by 90-foot garage space that will be partially converted into a heated area, with specific requirements for materials including R-21 faced batt insulation, OSB sheathing, concrete curbing, and LP ceiling-mounted heating equipment. Site visits are available upon request by contacting James Anderson, though no formal site visit is scheduled as part of the solicitation process.
