About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation has issued a Special Notice for the KC-46 Landing Gear Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) acquisition. This Request for Information (RFI) targets industry representatives to provide feedback on supporting KC-46 Landing Gear end items, which include one nose and two main landing gear components, along with field-level subcomponents. The RFI is part of an ongoing effort to shape the acquisition strategy for landing gear maintenance and support. The notice was posted on April 18, 2025, with responses due by May 2, 2025. It is specifically focused on gathering industry insights into potential challenges and capabilities related to landing gear overhaul and remanufacture strategies.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to solicit industry input on two critical aspects of the landing gear acquisition process, specifically the ability to submit a firm-fixed-price proposal without prior access to Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) data. Contractors are required to submit written responses via email directly to Kyle Swaner (Contracting Officer) at kyle.swaner@us.af.mil and Austin Gardner (Program Manager) at austin.gardner@us.af.mil by the May 2, 2025 deadline. The RFI does not appear to have specific set-aside restrictions, suggesting broad eligibility for contractors in the Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing NAICS category (336413). The government is seeking comprehensive feedback to help develop an effective strategy for landing gear maintenance, with a particular focus on how potential contractors can develop proposals under data access constraints. This approach demonstrates the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation's commitment to collaborative acquisition planning with industry partners.
