About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior National Park Service Alaska Region seeks replacement of fire alarm systems in up to eight housing units at Katmai National Park, King Salmon, Alaska, with proposals due July 23, 2026. This is a total small business set-aside under NAICS 561621 (Security Systems Services).
Place of performance is Katmai National Park, Alaska. The procurement requires design and installation of multi-zone addressable fire alarm systems compliant with NFPA 72 and current NEC and IBC standards to replace outdated Simplex systems installed in the late 1990s. System design must be performed by a licensed Fire Protection Engineer or NICET Level III Fire Alarm Systems Technician certified with the proposed manufacturer. Installation technicians must hold current NICET Level II certification and have at least three years of fire system experience. The new systems must include self-monitoring internal device status capability, 24-hour backup battery capacity, Wi-Fi capability for future expansion, and strobes meeting NFPA and ABA accessibility standards. Contractors must completely replace existing fire alarm wiring; existing conduit in hard conduit may be reused if code-compliant and COR-approved. The contractor must submit COR-approved design with certified engineer review prior to installation and provide final certification demonstrating NFPA 72 and IBC compliance. All materials must meet Buy American standards.
The contract runs from July 23, 2026 through June 1, 2027 on a firm fixed-price basis. The solicitation includes a base bid (FAA158) and seven options (FAA139, FAA136/137, FAA138, FAA150, FAA147, FAA135, FAA149). Funds are presently available only for the base bid; options are expected to be funded after award. The contractor must provide a 12-month warranty on all installation work. Work shall be performed during normal business hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday) with government residents occupying the buildings throughout performance. No government-furnished housing is available; however, the park has one 2-bedroom house available for contractor use at $2,525.84 per month (non-Federal cost). Service Contract Act prevailing wage rates apply. Evaluation criteria are technical acceptability, past experience, and price. Amendment 0004, posted July 1, 2026, clarifies housing availability; Amendment 0003, posted June 29, 2026, confirms that off-site monitoring is not required but internal monitoring capability for device malfunction detection is mandatory.
