About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network 17 (VISN 17) has published a Notice of Intent to Sole Source a service maintenance contract for specialized NanoString equipment at the Dallas Texas Health Care System. The contracting office intends to award a firm-fixed-price contract to Bruker Spatial Biology, Inc. for maintenance, repairs, and service support on pathology and laboratory equipment. This special notice, issued on February 3, 2026, reflects the government's determination that only Bruker Spatial Biology, Inc. possesses the unique and highly specialized capability to provide the required services. The procurement is conducted under simplified procedures for commercial services as authorized by 41 U.S.C. 1901 and FAR 12.102(a). The contracting officer has determined that the equipment support requirements are sufficiently unique to justify a non-competitive award to a single source.

The contract covers maintenance services for two systems—the Geomx System and Sprint System—during the period from April 10, 2026 through April 9, 2027. Interested parties who believe they can fulfill this requirement must submit supporting evidence demonstrating their capability by February 10, 2026 at 9:00 AM Central Time to Contract Specialist Teresa Arzola at Teresa.Arzola@va.gov or 210.740.3729. To be eligible to respond, contractors must provide documentation of authorization from the original equipment manufacturer as an authorized distributor and demonstrate their ability to comply with all requirements. The government notes that this determination to award without competition is solely within its discretion based on market research findings. No subcontracting opportunities are anticipated under this contract award, and the product service code is J066 with NAICS code 811210 for electronic and precision equipment repair and maintenance.
